Chef – Full-Time Company: Arch and Stone Location: Melbourne VIC 3004 Employment Type: Full-time, permanent/ongoing Salary: AUD $79,500–$85,000 per annum plus superannuation About the Position Arch and Stone is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join its professional kitchen team in Melbourne. This is a full-time, permanent position suitable for a motivated hospitality professional who is committed to delivering high-quality food, maintaining consistent presentation standards and contributing to the efficient operation of a busy kitchen. The successful candidate will work closely with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house employees to support smooth service delivery and maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: Planning and reviewing menus in consultation with management, taking into account customer preferences, seasonal ingredients and operational requirements; Estimating food requirements and assisting with the management of ingredient, supply and labour costs; Ordering food products and kitchen supplies and monitoring stock levels; Preparing and cooking a range of dishes in accordance with established recipes, portioning requirements and presentation standards; Checking food quality throughout preparation, cooking and service to ensure consistency in taste, appearance and portion size; Providing guidance to kitchen staff regarding food preparation methods, cooking techniques and presentation; Liaising with management, kitchen employees and front-of-house staff to resolve food preparation and service-related issues; Ensuring ingredients and prepared food are stored, handled and preserved correctly; Monitoring food waste and supporting effective stock rotation and inventory control; Maintaining and enforcing food safety, hygiene, sanitation and workplace health and safety procedures; Assisting with the recruitment, induction, training and supervision of kitchen staff where required; Supporting the efficient coordination of kitchen operations during busy service periods; and Contributing to menu improvements and the ongoing development of kitchen procedures. Skills and Experience To be considered for this position, applicants must have: A minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, Commercial Cookery or a closely related field; At least one year of relevant professional experience working as a Chef or in a comparable commercial kitchen role; Strong food preparation, cooking and presentation skills; Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen sanitation requirements; The ability to work efficiently and remain organised in a fast-paced environment; Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills; Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff; The ability to manage competing priorities and maintain consistent quality during busy service periods; and Flexibility to work in accordance with the venue’s operational roster. A Diploma of Hospitality Management will be considered an advantage.
