About the Company:
Helensville Fishery Limited is a fast-food business offering both takeaway and dine-in services. It is located on 31 Commercial Road, Helensville, and operates from 9:30am to 8:00pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
Due to our extended operating hours and the introduction of a new menu, we are currently seeking one full-time Cook to join our team to help manage the workload and support our shift operations. This is a permanent, full-time position with an immediate start and a competitive market salary.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and cook a variety of Asian and other dishes in accordance with the menu
· Set up and maintain kitchen stations, including stock control and ordering
· Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a high standard, with correct portion sizes
· Monitor cooking equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
· Maintain strict hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards at all times
· Assist with food preparation, portioning, and plating during service
· Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations
· Assist with menu planning and ingredient estimation when required
· Train, supervise, and support junior kitchen staff and apprentices as needed
· Follow all health and safety regulations
· Report any maintenance or equipment issues promptly
· Perform other kitchen-related duties as required
Skills and Requirements:
· Minimum 1 year of kitchen working experience in restaurant, takeaway or similar
environment, or
· New Zealand level 2 or higher qualification in cookery or culinary arts,
· Skilled in operating standard kitchen equipment (e.g., wok, steamer, rice cooker, oven)
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen and manage multiple tasks during peak
· hours
· Good communication and time management skills
· Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
· Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
