Aspiring Language Institute is an Auckland-based English language PTE offering structured programmes to international students and migrant learners. Our courses include General English, IELTS Preparation, and English for Migrants, delivered within a level-based academic framework.

We are seeking a full-time English Language Tutor to join our academic team. This role involves delivering structured English language instruction to students enrolled in our programmes, supporting learners to achieve measurable outcomes in academic, workplace, and everyday communication.

You will work within a structured teaching environment where students are grouped by proficiency level and follow defined learning pathways. This is a permanent, full-time position, and you will be required to work at least 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, within normal school hours.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Lesson Delivery

• Deliver structured English language instruction across multiple programmes (General English, IELTS Preparation, English for Migrants)
• Teach core language skills including speaking, listening, reading, and writing using appropriate methodologies
• Conduct classroom-based teaching for small groups and/or individual learners where required
• Adapt teaching approaches to suit mixed-ability classes and diverse learner backgrounds

2. Lesson Planning & Curriculum Alignment

• Prepare lesson plans aligned with programme frameworks and student proficiency levels
• Develop and adapt teaching materials to support specific learning outcomes
• Ensure lesson delivery aligns with course objectives and progression standards
• Integrate practical language use (e.g. workplace communication, academic English) into lessons

3. Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring

• Conduct initial placement testing to determine student levels
• Carry out ongoing formative and summative assessments
• Monitor student progress against defined learning outcomes
• Provide structured feedback to students on performance and improvement areas
• Maintain records of assessments, progress reports, and attendance

4. Student Support & Engagement

• Provide academic guidance to support student learning objectives
• Support students in achieving specific goals (e.g. IELTS score improvement, workplace communication readiness)
• Engage with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds in a professional and supportive manner
• Identify students requiring additional support and adjust teaching strategies accordingly

5. Academic Administration

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date teaching documentation, including lesson plans, attendance records, and student progress reports
• Participate in internal academic meetings and contribute to programme development where required
• Ensure compliance with internal academic policies and quality standards

6. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

• Follow established teaching standards and academic procedures
• Contribute to maintaining consistency in teaching delivery across programmes
• Reflect on teaching effectiveness and implement improvements where necessary

 About You

·       At least a bachelor’s degree in Education, English Teaching, Linguistics, or a related field OR

·      At least three years of relevant experience in teaching or tutoring English language learners

·       Ability to deliver structured, level-based lessons within a programme framework

·       Strong communication and classroom management skills

·       Ability to assess student levels and monitor progress
