Factory Manager:
Location: Whangārei, Northland
Employment type: Full time (guaranteed 40 hours / per week, Monday to Sunday rotating roster)
Our pay: $35 per hour
We are a well-established local smallgoods manufacturer based in Whangārei. We pride ourselves on producing some of New Zealand’s finest smallgoods using high-quality local ingredients.
We are seeking a full-time Factory Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of our business, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently, safely, and in accordance with required quality standards.
To be qualified for this role, you must have at least one of the following:
· At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role; or
· A relevant bachelor’s degree, preferably in business.
Duties and responsibilities:
· Plan and oversee meat production manufacturing operations, including production, staffing, inventory and distribution, to ensure operational and production targets are achieved.
· Identify new product opportunities and manage product development, including product trials, sample approval, cost calculation, pricing, and introduction into regular production.
· Develop and implement operational procedures and contribute to business planning, including staffing, production targets, marketing, budgets, costing and pricing.
· Develop weekly/daily production schedules, including staff rostering, production capacity and inventory requirements.
· Oversee procurement activities, including supplier sourcing, price negotiation, purchasing raw materials, packaging, supplies and equipment within budget.
· Coordinate logistics for regular and promotional orders, ensuring timely delivery and effective inventory control, compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
· Calculate and monitor weekly factory material costs to ensure spending remains within budget and minimize waste.
· Conduct quality control throughout the production and distribution process, and maintain regular communication with customers to gather after-sales feedback and address product quality issues.
· Prepare quotes for specialised manufacturing orders and negotiate pricing and terms with customers.
· Monitor regulatory requirements affecting manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant food, health and safety standards.
· Oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of manufacturing equipment and facilities, coordinating servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance to minimise production disruption.
