The role

Would you like to be part of a team implementing actions on the ground in an organisation recognised for our expertise, innovation, science and leadership?

We are recruiting for a full-time permanent role in the Freshwater and Projects team to provide fieldwork and other support for delivery of projects for the Catchment Operations Group. This is a great opportunity to assist with the delivery of work programmes and gain exposure to a wide variety of projects primarily within the water quality and aquatic habitat improvement and river management and flood protection programmes.

This role works across parts of the beautiful Horizons region, based from our Kairanga Service Centre. You'll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the region and assist with a number of projects/work streams including fish passage related work, riparian planting and river management and flood protection activity.

About you

The successful applicant will hold a Bachelor level degree or equivalent in an appropriate natural science discipline, hold a full driver's licence and have a passion for/in natural science disciplines.

Excellent communication and relationship building skills will be vital as the team works with a wide range of internal and external project partners and stakeholders to deliver projects on the ground. As this is largely a field based position, you'll need to be physically fit, confident working outdoors and in and around water in all weather conditions. Experience in the rural sector, excellent communication skills and a willingness to get stuck in and provide assistance to the team will stand you in good stead for this role.

Why join us?

When you join us, you can look forward to a rewarding career full of opportunities to develop a positive and supportive work environment. We do this through:

  • Positive focus on employee health, wellness and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation including your birthday off, wellness day, life insurance for all permanent staff and 5 weeks leave after 2 years of service.
  • Flexible family friendly work environment.
  • Ongoing development and opportunities across the organisation to grow, specialise or diversify your skills.
  • Working together for a better environment across our region.
