We're looking for two Gardeners to join our passionate and dedicated team in permanent roles based in Queenstown, at our depot in the beautiful Queenstown Gardens.

What you'll be doing / He aha te mahi

You will be required to carry out the maintenance of amenity gardens in Queenstown, Arrowtown and other QLDC sites, including Queenstown Gardens. You will use a wide variety of horticultural skills and will assist in all aspects of garden maintenance.

The role will involve:

  • Ensuring Wakatipu Garden areas, including the Queenstown Gardens, are maintained to a high standard using horticultural best practices.
  • Maintaining our shrub, flower, rose, annual bed and other garden areas to industry standard.
  • Assisting with new garden planting and enhancement.
  • Assisting with maintenance of irrigation ensuring optimal performance.
  • Complying with and supporting QLDC health and safety policies and procedures and actively participating in health and safety activities as appropriate.

What you'll bring to the role / Ko wai to Pukeka

You'll have a minimum Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture (or equivalent) or 2+ years' experience in amenity horticulture, with a Class 1 NZ driver's licence (essential). You'll be a team player with great communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

It would be desirable to have:

  • Current first aid certificate.
  • W Endorsement Licence.
  • Growsafe certification.
  • Class 2 drivers licence.
  • The ability to drive a manual vehicle.
