The way ADHD is diagnosed and managed in New Zealand is changing – and GPs are moving into the centre of this shift. We're recruiting on behalf of an innovative health service that is expanding access to high‑quality adult ADHD assessments nationwide, with their current office in Auckland. This role can be fully remote as part of a team‑based model of care.
This role offers GPs the opportunity to work from anywhere in New Zealand, while being closely connected to a supportive multidisciplinary team. With comprehensive training and a defined specialisation pathway, this is an ideal next step for GPs wanting to future‑proof their career in a fast‑growing clinical area.
The Opportunity
Demand for adult ADHD assessment has grown significantly across New Zealand, with primary care playing a more prominent role in diagnosis and care coordination. This position allows you to step into that space with confidence, structure, and support.
As ADHD Assessment Lead, you'll focus on assessment and clinical formulation – with limited admin or throughput medicine. You'll be fully trained in adult ADHD diagnostics and supported by experienced psychiatrists, nurse prescribers, and an operational team who manage the wider patient journey.
Despite being 100% remote, this is a highly connected role with regular clinical supervision, peer discussion, and shared decision‑making.
How You'll Work
Fully remote assessments delivered via a secure digital platform
Embedded within a multidisciplinary clinical team
Regular case discussions, supervision, and clinical meetings
Clear escalation pathways for complex cases and prescribing
Strong clinical governance and quality assurance processes
This is remote work without professional isolation.
Your Clinical Focus
Conduct structured adult ADHD assessments using validated tools
Gather and integrate collateral history and multi‑source information
Develop clear diagnostic formulations and treatment recommendations
Communicate findings to patients with clarity, empathy, and confidence
Refer complex or prescribing‑related cases to the Lead Psychiatrist
Contribute to evolving national assessment standards and protocols
Training & Specialisation Pathway
No prior ADHD assessment experience is required.
You'll receive:
Comprehensive training in adult ADHD diagnosis
Ongoing supervision and mentoring from senior clinicians
Exposure to best‑practice digital assessment models
A clear pathway to specialise in ADHD within a growing national service
Opportunities to contribute to service development, education, and leadership
This role is well suited to GPs seeking to develop a focused clinical niche in a high‑demand area.
What We're Looking For
NZ‑registered GP with a current practising certificate
At least 3 years' post‑registration clinical experience
Strong assessment, interviewing, and report‑writing skills
Comfortable working via telehealth and digital systems
Patient‑centred, organised, and clinically thorough
Motivated to specialise and grow within an evolving area of care
Why Consider This Role?
100% remote – work from anywhere in New Zealand
Flexible engagement options: full‑time, part‑time, or contractor
Be part of a national shift in ADHD diagnosis and access to care
Minimal admin with strong operational support
Collaborative, values‑driven clinical culture
Long‑term career development in a rapidly expanding sector
If you're a GP ready to move into a specialised, future‑focused role – while staying connected to a strong clinical team – this opportunity is well worth exploring.
