Kenex is a Wellington-based company with a second office in Western Australia. We specialise in GIS-based data analysis, mapping, and spatial modelling to support business development, with a strong focus on mineral exploration. Our clients span both government and industry, and our work is international in scope.

We are seeking a Geologist to take a crucial role in planning, executing, and managing geological field programs for one of our key clients. This is a full-time, fixed-term position based at our Eastbourne, Lower Hutt office, with regular fieldwork in Australia. Applicants must be currently living in New Zealand and legally eligible to work here.

Key Responsibilities

• Geological mapping and sampling (field and desktop, 2D & 3D)

• Drill planning, management, and core logging

• Exploration data management and interpretation

• Supervising field teams and ensuring safety procedures are implemented

• Managing land access and liaising with landowners

• Coordinating contractors, laboratories, and support staff

• Developing a strong understanding of project geology and mineralisation potential

• Predictive modelling (MPM) and target generation

• Assisting with budgets, work plans, and resource estimates

• Preparing high-quality technical reports, maps, and presentations for stakeholders

Skills & Knowledge

• Proficiency in at least one major GIS platform (ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS)

• Experience with 3D geological software (Leapfrog, GoCAD, or Micromine)

• Geology mapping including geophysical interpretation

• Strong field experience in mineral exploration

• Understanding of data collection, management, and analysis

• Competence with the MS Office suite

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities

• Eagerness to learn new tools and skills

Qualifications & Experience

• BSc in Geology (required)

• GIS qualifications (advantageous)

• Minimum 2 years prior experience in a mineral exploration role
