Job Description:

Latest job information from CMW Geosciences for the position of Graduate Geotechnical Engineer. If the Graduate Geotechnical Engineer vacancy in Auckland matches your qualifications, please submit your latest application or CV directly through the updated Jobkos job portal.

Please note that applying for a job may not always be easy, as new candidates must meet certain qualifications and requirements set by the company. We hope the career opportunity at CMW Geosciences for the position of Graduate Geotechnical Engineer below matches your qualifications.

About Us

Since starting in Perth in 2012, CMW Geosciences has expanded to 22 offices with over 330 employees across Australia and New Zealand. We are hard-working, down-to-earth, and passionate engineers and geologists who provide quality geotechnical site investigation, analysis, and design advice to the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors.

As part of the Kiwa Group, we're backed by a global network of 12,000+ staff across 35+ countries.

As a graduate at CMW, you'll be treated like an industry professional from the get-go. After completing the necessary training and inductions, you'll go out in the field to learn the practical field skills that form the basis of the technical work we do. You'll have access to senior technical staff to guide you through the early stages of your career and fast-track your growth. You'll be exposed to the full project lifecycle to start to prepare you for a career from day one. Unlike larger organisations, you won't be siloed into one stream of the business or handed low-responsibility tasks for the first year. You'll be learning technical, practical and project-related skills, and within 3-4 years, we expect you'll be able to manage and run projects from start to finish.

Our South Auckland office (located in Onehunga) is looking to bring on graduates for January 2027.

A Typical Day

CMW Geosciences graduates fulfill our field-based roles. A typical day would include going to site to complete manual field work tasks and testing. Onsite testing might include logging rock and soil bore holes, undertaking hand augers or observing machine excavated test pits. On our construction sites you would be observing piling, retaining walls or ground improvement sites.

If you're in the office, you would likely be processing logs and soil samples, writing technical reports and assisting project managers with deliverables.

Our range of projects are diverse across countries and offices: you could be communicating design elements to contractors on a community housing development in Rotorua. Or, be in regional Queensland at the MacIntyre Windfarm, carrying piling supervision and providing construction phase support. Or, across the country in Perth at Jandakot Airport undertaking CPT testing, dynamic cone penetrations testing, infiltration testing and hand auger boring.

What You'll Need

  • A Civil Engineering, Geology or Earth Science Degree
  • Ability to complete strenuous fieldwork tasks
  • Ability to travel when required
  • A full New Zealand or Australian driver's license
  • A desire to work outside with a love of rocks, soil and geology
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organisation and communication skills, both verbal and written

What You'll Get

  • Additional Day Leave on Birthday
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Access to Kiwa rewards platform (discounts on fuel, shopping, holidays etc.)
  • Provision of minimum of 50 hours Training / CPD per year and paid membership to Engineers Australia / Engineers New Zealand
  • Access to our 2-year CMW graduate training program
  • Office social events throughout the year
  • Ability to earn overtime and/or time in Lieu
  • Novated Lease / salary sacrifice vehicle finance options

Some things to consider:

  • You can apply for multiple locations, but please only apply once. When you get through to the second round of applications, you can state which locations/start dates you are applying for. You may also state this in your application if you wish.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for graduate positions. If you are applying from outside the position's location, you will be expected to relocate at your expense.
  • We are currently unable to offer sponsorship for graduate roles.
