Flex Fitness Chartwell is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Club Manager to join our team with a focus on growing and retaining our membership base through smart marketing, in-house initiatives, and exceptional member experiences.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about fitness and helping others succeed—someone who thrives in a team environment and is ready to take ownership of initiatives that strengthen our community and club culture.
The Club Manager will be responsible for ensuring the overall success of the gym, managing staff, and upholding overall operational excellence. They will also be involved in admin, marketing, sales, prospect calls, club tours, cleaning and general enquires. A First Aid Certificate is required as well as a NZ Driver's License.
Responsibilities:
Member Experience:
● Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for members and visitors.
● Address member inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
● Monitor member satisfaction and implement improvements to enhance their experience.
Sales and Marketing:
● Develop and execute effective marketing strategies, at both a local and national level, to attract new members and retain current ones.
● Oversee internal marketing initiatives to promote gym services through online channels and local advertising.
● Actively engage and participate in social media,
● Monitor membership sales and implement initiatives to achieve membership growth targets.
Member retention:
● Develop and implement strategies to enhance member retention and reduce churn.
● Engage with members regularly to build relationships and understand their needs and goals.
● Implement initiatives such as member challenges, rewards programs, and personalised interactions to increase member loyalty.
Operations Management:
● Oversee daily gym operations, including opening and closing procedures, equipment maintenance, and cleanliness.
● Manage facility upkeep and maintenance to ensure a safe and clean environment for members.
● Respond to any out-of-hours alerts or emergencies.
Staff Management:
● Recruit, train, and supervise gym staff, including front desk personnel, trainers, and instructors.
● Develop staff schedules and always ensure proper coverage of staffed hours.
● Provide ongoing training and support to staff to enhance their skills and knowledge
Health and Safety:
● Implement and enforce health and safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of members and staff.
● Conduct regular safety inspections and identify and address any potential hazards promptly.
Community Engagement:
● Foster a sense of community within the gym by organising events, challenges, and workshops.
● Collaborate with local businesses and organisations to promote health and wellness initiatives.
Financial Management:
● Coordinate with managing director/s to manage the gym's operating budget, ensuring revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
● Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
● Monitor overdue membership fees accurately and efficiently using internal reports and coordinating with the billing provider.
About You:
- Previous experience within the fitness industry.
- Strong sales and customer service background, with a track record of achieving targets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for health and fitness, with a commitment to leading by example.
