We are looking for a Stylist for  Christchurch's leading sustainable, natural, organic hair salon. Give your earth-loving consciousness a boost and stop using those nasty chemicals! We are a young, fun, vibrant team located at the Pure Collective, Shop 14/9 Masefield Drive, Rolleston

 

The role includes:

• Talking to clients about their requirements.
• Creating a nurturing, skills and goals focused environment
• Ensuring apprentices are motivated and engaged in improving their skill set by bridging the success of the salon with knowledge and creativity. Great results don’t just happen, they happen because you make them happen
• Being a role model for our apprentices
• Liaising with manager/senior stylists and team members to identify training needs and mapping out development plans
• Cutting, styling, colouring and straightening hair
• Shampooing, conditioning and rinsing hair
• Providing services such as bleaching, conditioning, permanent waving, straightening and tinting
• Drying and styling hair using brushes, combs, straightening irons and other equipment
• Shaving and trimming beards and moustaches
• Advising clients on hair care
• Attending hairdressing seminars and training to keep up to date with new products and techniques
• Operating a cash register and computer systems
• Performing reception duties such as answering telephone calls and making appointments
• Selling retail products
• Maintaining stock control to ensure the salon has enough product and that product is correctly accounted for
• Maintaining client records
• Cleaning the salon, work areas and equipment
• Cleaning, colouring, adjusting, curling and cutting wigs and hairpieces
• Any other tasks as may be reasonably directed by us.

Who You Are

You’re not just great with hair—you’re great with people. Our ideal candidate brings:

• At least 3 years of experience 
• Good hand-eye coordination, a strong creative flair, and an eye for the finest details.
• Good communication skills, a patient and positive attitude, and impeccable personal presentation.
• The ability to work under pressure, follow instructions seamlessly, and a commitment to safety and hygiene.

Guaranteed 30 hours per week with overtime opportunities.  Base rate of $30 plus commission on sales.
