Here's a highly attractive opportunity for an intermediate to senior level H&S expert, to join our client's leadership team as Health and Safety Manager in a position with real influence and visibility. 

This isn't just a 'tick-the-box' H&S role. You'll be responsible for the full life cycle of the H&S function - from strategy through to hands-on implementation.

This is a full-time role based on-site in Mangere. Whilst there is potentially room for flexibility over time, your on-site presence will be key to building trust and driving engagement. You'll also occasionally travel to sites around New Zealand and Australia to ensure alignment and consistency across the board.

About the role:

• Lead the development and implementation of leadership, behavioural and engagement initiatives to deliver outstanding H&S compliance and performance
• Provide strategic and expert advice to business leaders on all aspects of health and safety
• Design, roll out and continuously improve robust health and safety policies and practices.
• Champion compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental laws and industry regulations.
• Lead thorough incident investigations, uncover root causes, and implement effective preventative actions.
• Conduct regular site walkthroughs, audits, and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
• Deliver impactful training, coaching, and hands-on support to team members across all levels of the business.
• Track and analyse health and safety metrics, presenting clear reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and the Board.
• Serve as the key liaison for regulatory authorities and external auditors during inspections or compliance reviews.
• Be the driving force behind a strong, positive safety culture that's embedded into daily operations.

• You bring a minimum of least 5 years relevant experience in intermediate/senior roles
• Experience in a hazardous manufacturing environment would be a major advantage, however experience within broader technical manufacturing will be also considered. 
• You have in-depth understanding of New Zealand HSE legislation, standards, and best practices (knowledge of Australian WHS frameworks would also be a bonus, but is not essential).
• You have a recognised qualification in Health & Safety, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH or equivalent certification.
• You have a strong track record and expertise in incident investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
• You bring strong communication and leadership capabilities, with the confidence to coach, influence and engage at all levels.
• Proven ability to build relationships, drive accountability, and foster a collaborative approach to safety is essential
• You have a proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and building a positive safety culture.
