About the opportunity:

 

This newly created role sits within a busy Operations team of a well-established, Kiwi-owned insurance provider. You will play a key role in managing payment and arrears processes while delivering a professional and empathetic experience for customers. This is a fully office-based, 12-month contract located just minutes from Takapuna Beach, with strong training and future career potential.

 

Role description:

 

As a Payment Specialist, you will take ownership of the full arrears lifecycle, from identifying missed payments through to resolution or policy cancellation where required. Over time, you will become the subject matter expert for payments and arrears processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

● Monitoring accounts daily to identify missed or overdue payments

 

● Assessing arrears severity and applying appropriate collection strategies

 

● Contacting customers to explain balances, payment options, and outcomes

 

● Managing policy cancellations in line with procedures and obligations

 

● Owning arrears cases end-to-end through to resolution

 

This role will suit someone with all or some of the following background/experience/qualities:

 

● Experience in financial services, insurance, billing, or collections

 

● Confident, professional, and empathetic communication style

 

● Strong ownership, accountability, and attention to detail

 

● Ability to manage high volumes of work accurately

 

● Solid computer literacy and confidence using multiple systems
