Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this rolePae Ora (Health Services) is responsible for the Department's overall focus on oranga, inclusive of general health, mental health, addictions, and disability. Our priority is to provide services that support the advancement of health equity for Māori, and most importantly Pae Ora. We do this through our strategies, policies and practices. Hōkai Rangi, our over-arching strategic direction, places the focus on oranga at the heart of our business. Building our frameworks from a Matauranga Māori basis is our focus to drive and support equity for Māori, which in turn will contribute to achieving our outcomes of reducing reoffending. Our values embrace the kaupapa Māori concepts of Rangatira, Manaaki, Wairua, Kaitiaki and Whānau.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are advancing our commitment to transformational change across our health services, we are excited to announce this Principal Advisor role within Pae Ora. Reporting to the National Rongoa Māori Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of work across health, corrections and Māori partnerships, with an emphasis on building capability and expertise from a Te Ao Māori view to support the design of Te Matatiki o te Oranga (our new Health Service), and the implementation of Hōkai Rangi.
We're looking for someone with a strong grounding in mātauranga Māori and proven experience embedding this knowledge into strategies, policies, procedures, tools, and resources within a health context. You'll bring a deep understanding of whānau ora and its vital role in achieving Pae Ora, along with the ability to work confidently in kaupapa Māori environments. A comprehensive understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to health and wellbeing is essential.
Bringing knowledge or expertise in Pae Ora - health futures for Māori and/or kaupapa Māori service design will enable you to support and drive forward the design, implementation and development of health services that meet the specific needs of tangata in our care and management. Championing Te Ao Māori methodologies, you'll actively support the development of Te Matatiki o te Oranga, and lead the effective implementation of performance monitoring, evaluation and reporting frameworks for key areas of work. Promoting whanaungatanga as a key principle for work collaboration and partnership is critical, as you'll work to establish and foster strong, positive partnerships across Aotearoa, especially with our Iwi Partners and mana whenua, and stakeholders including other government agencies and DHB's, and through supporting the interface with governance forums.

Please note this is a National Office role where location is flexible, however there is a requirement that you are in Wellington for 1 week per month. This role also requires the ability to travel regularly across Aotearoa, as required.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid-point salary range $141,651, with the full salary range $120,404 - $169,982. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
