Lead a hands-on promotional print operation within a well-established New Zealand manufacturing business where quality, consistency, teamwork, and pride in output drive everything produced.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Printer who enjoys being on the tools, while also taking full ownership of production flow, people, and output.

You’ll be right in the middle of the action—driving daily production, solving issues as they arise, and ensuring jobs move smoothly through screen, rotary, flatbed, and specialty print processes in a fast-paced environment.

A practical, calm leadership style is essential, along with strong communication skills, sound business acumen, and the ability to balance quality, deadlines, and team coordination.

Why this role stands out
  • Permanent full-time role (Monday–Friday, 7.30am–4.00pm)
  • Lead a small team of printers and finishers
  • Genuine ownership of workflow, scheduling, and output
  • Wide variety of promotional print techniques
  • Hands-on leadership role – not office-based management
  • Opportunity to work with varied machinery and learn new processes
  • Stable, long-standing NZ manufacturing environment
  • Direct impact on production success, team culture, and business performance
The opportunity

You’ll take full responsibility for the print floor and production flow across a busy promotional print operation.

This is a lead-from-the-floor role. You will remain actively involved in production while guiding a small team to deliver accurate, high-quality, on-time work every day.

The business values craftsmanship, accountability, attitude, and doing things properly the first time.

You will also play a key role in shaping a positive, people-first culture, helping to take the team on a journey of continuous improvement, collaboration, and pride in what they produce.

What you’ll be doing
  • Run daily production across promotional print processes
  • Lead, support, and coordinate a small team of printers and finishers
  • Manage workflow, job prioritisation, and production scheduling
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality output across all jobs
  • Troubleshoot production and print issues to minimise downtime
  • Coordinate machine maintenance and servicing schedules
  • Manage substrates, inks, and consumables to ensure smooth production flow
  • Work closely with internal teams to meet customer deadlines and support sales outcomes
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and production standards across all work
  • Drive accountability, structure, and continuous improvement across the production floor
About you

You are likely already working as a Print Supervisor / Print Lead / Printer, or are a highly experienced operator ready to step into leadership.

You will bring:

  • Strong hands-on experience in print production
  • Confidence leading a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Practical knowledge of screen, rotary, flatbed or similar print processes
  • Strong troubleshooting ability on machinery and production issues
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a genuine sense of ownership
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and take a team on a journey
  • Organised, calm, and solution-focused approach under pressure
  • Natural ability to lead from the floor and set standards
  • Ability to train, coach, or develop staff
  • Real care and pride in output quality and consistency
  • Strong business awareness and understanding of how production supports sales and customer success
  • Respectful, engaging, and collaborative approach with all team members
  • Positive, solutions-focused attitude with a bright, approachable personality

Bonus experience (not essential)

  • Exposure to multiple print technologies
  • Experience improving workflow efficiency or reducing downtime
