Te whiwhinga mahi - Our opportunity

6 month Secondment/Fixed Term Opportunity.

In this pivotal role, you’ll partner closely with senior leaders across Urban Development and Delivery, providing high quality commercial insight, financial governance, and portfolio level reporting across programmes valued between $300m and $1.2bn. You will play a central role in supporting informed decision making at executive and governance level, improving the quality and consistency of financial information, and strengthening commercial performance across a complex delivery environment involving internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate and drive the implementation of a targeted improvement programme
  • Provide high quality commercial and financial management, reporting and guidance
  • Act as a trusted commercial adviser to senior leaders and governance boards
  • Provide portfolio level financial management, reporting, forecasting and performance insight
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Lead and embed improved feasibility, business case and scenario modelling frameworks
  • Oversee month end close, variance analysis, forecasting and reconciliations
  • Support audit, assurance and external reporting requirements, including appropriation funding
  • Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes, reporting and systems
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with project teams, alliance partners and stakeholders
  • Coach and influence teams to lift financial capability and discipline across large scale programmes
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Quantity Surveying
  • 8–10+ years’ experience in project finance for large scale, high value capital or development projects
  • Strong experience in complex civils or property development environments, including alliances and build partners
  • Deep capability in financial modelling, feasibility analysis, budgeting, forecasting and portfolio reporting
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex issues clearly
  • Experience with enterprise finance systems (e.g. Oracle, Estate Master or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with reporting and BI tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Sound understanding of government processes and public sector accountability
  • A collaborative mindset with strong judgement under pressure
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally grounded ways of working
