Due to secondment Archway are looking for an experienced payroller who is keen to secure their next Senior Payroll Advisory role. The role is based in the Wellington CBD and is with an organisation who play a crucial part in kiwi's lives. This would be the perfect opportunity for someone who is keen to secure a role in a complex change environment, which will provide either great experience for the CV to build your career, or alternatively safe and secure work if you're between roles.  About the role:As a Senior Payroll Advisor, you will be responsible for coordinating daily payroll activities and ensuring each fortnightly pay run operates smoothly, as well as providing advice and support to the Payroll Advisors and the wider organisation. This position plays a key role to ensure accurate and timely payroll services, providing advice and compliance with relevant legislation and employment agreements. The Senior Advisor Payroll will be the first point of contact for any complex processing issues and will decide what needs escalation to the Team Lead Payroll and/or the Payroll Manager. Day to day tasks involved in this role will include:

  • Process payroll changes including new appointments, salary and allowance changes, overtime claims, deductions, cessations, remuneration reviews, including the manual calculation of employee backpays as required
  • Mentor Payroll Advisors to ensure changes are processed within the relevant pay run
  • Oversee end-to-end pay run processing including checking data integrity, reporting, reconciliation, ensuring appropriate sign-off and uploading payment files.
  • Provide advice and assistance to staff and managers on all payroll related matters, including leave provisions, statutory entitlements and general payroll related issues
  • Coordinate the administration of superannuation schemes
  • Ensure payroll processes meet audit requirements and the data quality and integrity of the HRIS system is maintained.
About You:You will have prior experience processing the end to end payroll in a New Zealand payroll. You will be adaptable, a people person who is ambitious and committed to process improvement. Beyond this, you will have the following skills:
  • Experience processing payroll in a high volume, complex environment utilising a tier one or two payroll system
  • Strong understanding of NZ Holidays Act, KiwiSaver, ACC, and IRD requirements
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills—you'll work closely with staff across all levels
  • The ability to be discrete and confidential when handling sensitive information  
  • Strong team player who is happy to help out wherever is needed
