Store Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Store Manager to join our busy family bakery and takeaway business in Auckland. This role is responsible for overseeing the retail performance and daily coordination of the shop to ensure high standards of customer service, staff management, sales growth, and operational efficiency.

 

This is a permanent, full-time position offering 40–45 hours of work per week. As our bakery operates seven days a week, flexibility to work weekends and public holidays is required to meet the operational needs of the business. Working hours will generally be between 5:00am and 4:00pm. 

 

Pay rate: $25-$35 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience) 

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Determining product mix, stock levels, pricing strategies, promotional activities, and customer service standards to maximise sales and profitability.
  • Monitoring sales performance, customer demand, competitor activities, and market trends, and implementing strategies to support business growth.
  • Planning and coordinating product ranges, seasonal offerings, and promotional campaigns in consultation with the bakery production team.
  • Managing the overall retail operations and performance of the business to achieve sales, profitability, and customer service objectives.
  • Recruiting, training, rostering, supervising, and evaluating staff performance to ensure operational efficiency and workforce productivity.
  • Managing inventory, purchasing activities, supplier relationships, stock control processes, and records of stock levels to maintain adequate stock availability and minimise wastage.
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets, sales targets, and operational expenditure to support profitability and business objectives.
  • Formulating and implementing merchandising, marketing, advertising, and promotional strategies to increase customer engagement and sales revenue.
  • Monitoring customer service standards, managing customer feedback and complaints, and implementing improvements to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Establishing and maintaining operational procedures and compliance practices, and liaising with suppliers, regulatory authorities, local councils, and service providers to support efficient and compliant business operations.

                                                  

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • At least three years of relevant work experience in a retail or service management role; or
  • A relevant tertiary qualification such as a Diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management, or related field
  • Strong leadership, staff supervision, and team management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Good understanding of inventory management, stock control, budgeting, and retail operations
  • Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Clean criminal record and drug-free status
