Garage Equipment Specialists are specialist vehicle hoist installers, certifiers, and service technicians based in Christchurch.
We aim to minimise downtime for our clients, ensuring that all of their hoists and other equipment operate optimally, and keep their equipment compliant for the H&S of their team.

About The Role
Right now, we are on the lookout for a technician, we are seeking someone who has a mechanical or engineering background. A knowledge and understanding of electrical and electronic control circuits and the ability to fault find them. The role involves installation and shifting of vehicle hoists, certification, routine and preventative maintenance including repairs and troubleshooting of hoists and other automotive servicing equipment.
The successful applicant will be playing a key part in the ongoing maintenance and repair of a wide range of vehicle hoists and other automotive equipment and machinery. 95% of the work is carried out in customers workshops, with some occasional travel (approximately one week away per month), our coverage area is from Timaru to Nelson and across to the West Coast. We are looking for someone with a high level of technical skills and expertise to carry out these duties.
Someone with strong drive, motivation and direction to succeed and be able to work in a safety conscious environment.
What we are looking for:
· Minimum 5 years' experience as either an industrial service technician, mechanic, maintenance engineer or similar engineering technician role.
· Exceptional attention to detail, self-motivated and able to complete paperwork in a timely manner.
· Experience with mechanical equipment, safety controls and hydraulic systems
· Excellent diagnostic and repair skills
· Ability to self-manage along with the ability to work autonomously in customers workshops
· A clean NZ driver license
· Computer proficient
· Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency is a must
· Ability to work independently as well as a team
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with customers on a day to day basis.
· Be dedicated to maintaining a strong focus on Safety and excellent working conditions
· Your own tools. (Specialist job specific tools will be provided)
· An Electrical Trade Qualification although not necessary would be advantageous
