Secondary (Years 7-15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher
Suitable for beginning teachers
St Paul's Collegiate School is an independent Anglican secondary school based in Hamilton. Tihoi Venture School is our Y10 residential outdoor campus, located on the western side of Lake Taupo. Students from our main campus visit Tihoi for a 12-week residential immersion programme that combines academic study, outdoor pursuits, and community living.
We are seeking a dedicated and adventurous teacher to join the Tihoi team. This full-time role involves teaching junior core subjects (English, mathematics, science, or social science). Experience in outdoor education or a related field is highly desirable, and a NZOIA Level 1 qualification would be a distinct advantage.
While at Tihoi, students take part in a range of outdoor rotations, including tramping, survival exercises, solo experiences, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, rock climbing, high and low ropes, caving, alpine activities, and a multi-day expedition. As a teacher and outdoor instructor, you'll play an active role in shaping these powerful learning experiences.
At St Paul's, our vision is cultivating educated contributors, and our mission is to inspire minds, build character, and shape futures. We are excited to be welcoming girls at St Paul's from 2026, and from 2027 our Tihoi experience will move to three intakes, allowing our first intake of Year 10 girls.
We are looking for a teacher/instructor who will embrace this kaupapa and help grow young people into confident, capable contributors. All staff live onsite (with their whaanau) in provided accommodation and are fully engaged in the academic, outdoor, and pastoral care aspects of the programme.
The role offers a competitive salary (plus a St Paul's Allowance of $5,022 per annum) and includes provided accommodation, power, Wi-Fi, and heating.
