Job Opportunity: Sculptor

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand Employer: Everyone an Artist Trust

Position: Full-Time, Permanent Hours: Minimum of 30 hours per week Pay Rate: $28 to $35 per hour

About the Role: Everyone an Artist Trust is seeking a talented and experienced Sculptor to join our creative team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to bring artistic visions to life through sculpture and other artistic mediums. We are looking for someone passionate about creating three-dimensional forms that convey ideas and impressions through innovative and traditional techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conceptualization & Design:
  • Conceiving and developing ideas, designs, and styles for sculptures, pottery, paintings, and other artistic pieces.
  • Sketching designs and creating wax or plaster models.
• Preparation & Material Handling:
  • Arranging objects, positioning models, and selecting landscapes or visual forms.
  • Selecting artistic media, methods, and materials.
• Sculpting & Production:
  • Carving and forming materials like wood, stone, clay, and metal using hand and power tools.
  • Moulding clay into functional or artistic articles by wheel-throwing, moulding, and hand-building.
  • Mixing and applying glazing materials, decorating pieces, and operating kilns.
• Metal & Stone Work:
  • Devising forms from metal using welding and metalworking equipment.
  • Shaping stone using masonry tools.
• Selling & Customer Assistance:
  • Assisting buyers, including Chinese tourists, in understanding the creations, such as their inspiration, artistic process, and unique features.
  • Providing advice to customers on selecting pieces that best suit their preferences or needs.

Qualifications and Skills: The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of three years relevant experience or Bachelors degree (or higher) in related field.
• High levels of creative talent or personal commitment to the arts.
• Strong skills in various artistic media, including sculpture, pottery, and painting.
• Experience in using tools and equipment such as kilns, masonry tools, and welding equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with buyers and showcasing the value of creations.
