We are seeking a Head of Farming - Dairy Support & Grazing to join our team!

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our Ngāi Tahu Farming Team. You will have the opportunity to deliver operational leadership and management for our North Canterbury farms at Te Whenua Hou (6700 ha+, of which 2500 ha is dairy support, cropping and grazing which is irrigated, a key for this location is to work alongside our Head of Farming Dairy & Assets who oversees our 9 dairy farms, over 2750 ha, on farm assets plus an internal contracting & irrigation business), Hikawaikura (9400 ha with 2200 ha of farming including 1300 ha irrigated which includes store trading, grazing and a 950 mainly beef angus herd) and our High Country Stations (Route Burn, Greenstone and Elfin Bay totalling nearly 30000 ha). We have experienced teams across the whenua. The role aims to drive performance excellence including development of our kaimahi while aligning with strategic goals and objectives.

He kōrero mōu - About you:

  • An undergraduate qualification in an agribusiness discipline
  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, business administration or finance.
  • Agri-sector management and expertise over multi-farm operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Relationship management skills
  • People leadership and development experience
  • Proven experience and knowledge in managing farming at scale across multiple operations
  • Time management and ability to manage conflicting demands
  • An openness to embrace the values and aspirations of Ngāi Tahu whānui and interest to grow your cultural understanding in te ao Māori.
