Stand at the stern of the canoe and feel the spray of the future biting at your face Mō te tūnga | About the role A fantastic new opportunity has arisen in our ICT Radio Networks Team for a Senior Infrastructure Development Radio Engineer. We are looking for an experienced, focused and determined individual who wishes to be part of an established Radio Engineering team. This individual will support its current radio network and infrastructure and transition it to a new outsourced model under the new Public Safety Network (PSN). This role is currently based in Wellington. This role is reporting to the NZP Radio Manager. It is responsible for working within the Radio Engineering team to provide engineering expertise and guidance on the current land mobile radio (LMR) technologies architectures and infrastructures. This role will work to develop detailed solution designs and specifications to support the current Police ICT radio network and infrastructure ensuring it is sufficiently robust, and efficient and meets technical and security standards and requirements. It is also responsible for supporting the design of the radio sites and infrastructure for the new Public Safety Network Programme (PSN). You will have high levels of motivation and have experience working as a Senior Infrastructure Development Engineer . In doing so you will have developed your engagement skills at all levels of organisations and be able to build networks and trust. This is a dynamic and challenging position, and the successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate the following: Nga kawenga matua | Key Accountabilities: The ability to think on your feet and problem solve Strong attention to detail Support the current Radio Network Infrastructure for Police Support the current Radio Engineering team to assist with providing expert advice on radio technologies and infrastructure on sites and stations. Ability to prepare detailed design documentation and specifications. Support the PSN Station workstream, with Station Designs and Multiband Antenna Testing Prepare and assist with station testing of a new Antennas. Support the PSN with coverage design and verification interpret coverage maps, understand prediction models and identify potential gaps Provide technical advice on implementation of new PSN policies, strategies and protocols to support the Service Management Operating Model Provide independent advice by working engineers, district service engineers and managers to share insights and ideas that come from sharing information. Support system Integration and decommissioning. Understanding on installation, testing implementation, or decommissioning and removing of cabling, wiring, equipment hardware and associated software. You will bring: Experience in radio technologies industry is necessary (5-10 years) Be familiar with radio test equipment. The ability to work well both independently and collaboratively. Knowledge of Agile methods and techniques desirable Your qualifications: Diploma in Radio Engineering NZCE in Telecommunications Radio Technician Certificate, Telecommunications Engineering Or alternatively 10 years+ relevant radio engineering industry experience.
