Senior Transport Planner
Otago Regional Council is the Public Transport Authority for buses and ferries in Dunedin and Queenstown. We are currently consulting on our Regional Public Transport Plan and will shortly begin work on the new Regional Land Transport Plan.
We are regularly delivering new fleets, new services and new infrastructure to bring more people on board to meet the challenge of growth in Queenstown. We also have ambitions to improve services for our communities across the whole region through investing in intra-regional public transport and working alongside communities for local shared transport solutions. We contribute to efforts to improve safety on our roads, and to design and promote integrated and connected public and active transport networks. The Opportunity
The Transport team at the Otago Regional Council is seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join them on a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) basis in our Dunedin office.
The purpose of the role is to provide expert transport planning advice and oversight, to ensure the effective delivery of the ORCs transport planning responsibilities
In this varied and wide-ranging role as Senior Transport Planner among other things you will be involved in:
- Maintaining and contributing to the ongoing development of the Otago Regional Land Transport and Public transport Plans and other transport strategies and policies
- Providing transport planning advice and support to executives and committees
- Preparation of business cases in conjunction with investment partners and key stakeholders.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A tertiary degree in a related field
- 4+ years experience in a professional planning environment (transport, urban economics, urban planning)
- The ability to interpret and operationalise plans and policies
- Experience using information systems (eg Remix) for the purposes of undertaking transport planning
