Chapel Café in Tauranga is seeking an experienced Café Manager to oversee daily operations, lead staff, manage stock and rosters, maintain food safety standards, and deliver excellent customer service. Applicants must have at least 3 years’ relevant hospitality management experience or a relevant Level 4 qualification. This is a full-time role offering $30.00 per hour, a supportive team environment, and the opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of a well-established café.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Café Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and lead our team in delivering an outstanding customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the daily operations of the café to ensure smooth and efficient service
• Supervising, training, and supporting café staff
• Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and maintaining supplier relationships
• Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and maintaining Food Control Plan records
• Monitoring customer service standards and resolving customer concerns professionally
• Managing staff rosters and ensuring adequate staffing levels
• Monitoring café performance, sales, and operational costs to maintain profitability . When required, assist staff with taking reservations, greeting guests and taking orders.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and workplace health and safety
• Assisting with marketing, promotions, and social media activities as required

Skills and Experience Required

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in café or hospitality management, or a relevant qualification at NZQF Certificate Level 4 or higher in hospitality, business, or management.
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Good understanding of food safety and café operations
