Employer: The Trustee for Sandhu Family Trust Location: Woolgoolga Nsw 2456 Salary range: $75000-$85000 Type: Full-time Position Duration: At least 3 years Job description: Our client, The Trustee for Sandhu Family Trust is a farm in regional NSW looking for a skilled Agronomist to join their team. Tasks: •Collect and analyse soil, water, fertilizer and crop samples to assess crop health, soil fertility, irrigation performance and overall production efficiency. •Provide professional agronomic advice to the Farm Manager and operational staff regarding crop production strategies, yield improvement and sustainable farming practices. •Develop and implement fertilizer, fertigation and nutrient management programs based on crop stages, environmental conditions and production targets. •Monitor crop performance, plant nutrition, soil conditions, pest activity and disease risks across berry production areas. •Advise on weed control, mulching, pruning techniques and integrated pest management strategies to improve crop productivity and quality. •Conduct regular field inspections and analyse environmental factors including soil pH, EC levels, moisture content and climate suitability affecting berry crop production. •Recommend and assist in implementing advanced irrigation and water management systems to optimise water usage and crop performance. •Conduct trials of different berry varieties and growing systems including substrate and traditional soil methods to determine suitability, productivity and profitability. •Analyse crop trial outcomes and prepare recommendations regarding suitable berry varieties, planting schedules and production strategies. •Consult with farm management and field staff to ensure accurate implementation of agronomic programs and operational procedures. •Develop procedures and techniques to improve production efficiency, crop quality and long-term farm sustainability. •Ensure compliance with agricultural safety standards, environmental regulations and quality assurance requirements. •Prepare production reports, maintain agronomic records and provide ongoing recommendations based on research findings and field observations. •Source and coordinate crop inputs including fertilizers, soil amendments and agricultural materials within operational budgets. •Continuously review farming practices and recommend innovative agronomic solutions to maximise yield, crop quality and commercial outcomes. Eligibility: •A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in agriculture, horticulture or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience. •At least 1 year of Full Time Relevant Work Experience •Strong understanding of agricultural production processes. •Attention to detail and quick decision-making to address quality issues, equipment failures, and operational challenges. •Proficiency in quality control and adherence to standards. •Excellent communication and teamwork skills. •Ability to coordinate with various departments and ensure compliance with regulations. •Possess a keen eye for detail to oversee product quality.
