About the Role
As our Gateway Coordinator, you will join the Kaitiaki o Nga Whanau, Safeguarding Team and will have the opportunity to help create safety for vulnerable Tamariki in our Lakes area. You will be responsible for working with Oranga Tamariki, Ministry of Education and wider support services to ensure Gateway Health assessments can be completed in a timely manner, you will support the Lakes Medical/Nurse Practitioner who is responsible for completing the health assessment. You will be responsible for facilitating and chairing MDT hui to ensure medical recommendations are followed through.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Kaitiaki o Nga Whanau, Safeguarding team is a small team of dedicate people who are passionate about creating safety for Lakes whanau experiencing all types of abuse and neglect, from the vulnerable unborn right through to the elderly. We facilitate the National Violence Intervention Programme in both Rotorua and Taupo Hospitals and engage with the wider support services in both these cities.
About you
As a Senior Nurse you will have a minimum of 5 years experience, an APC and membership to a relevant professional body. You will also have, but not limited to:
- Have experience working with Maori consumers and their whanau
- Have knowledge of Privacy/Consent in regards to information sharing
- Have knowledge of child development and different types of child abuse and neglect and how they present
- Have experience in advocacy for vulnerable populations
- Have confidence in facilitation and coordination, be able to work without supervision and within a dynamic and fast-paced workplace
- Sound computer skills
