New Star Restaurant Limited is a well-established Chinese restaurant proudly serving authentic Chinese cuisine to local community. We are looking for one experienced cook to join us ni Porirua. You wil work 30-40 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $25 to $31, subject to your skills and experience.
Responsibilities
- Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Checking ingredients to make sure the quality and freshness
- Preparing and cooking Chinese food in various utensils and grillers
- Seasoning, portioning, adding sauces to the food during/after cooking
- Preparing food to meet client’s taste and dietary needs
- Arrange food on plates or wrap it to be taken away
- Storing and reserving food
- Assisting in planning menus, estimating food and labour costs
- Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
- Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of machines before each run, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Training junior cook and kitchen hands
Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant trackable work experience
- Excellent skills and knowledge in operating Chinese wok and knife
- Flexibility to work on weekend and night shifts
- Has positive and willing attitude to learn
