As we continue to grow in New Zealand, we are looking for an experienced ICT Security Specialist to join our team and help customers reduce cyber risk, improve security posture and protect critical business systems.

About the Role

The ICT Security Specialist will play a key role in designing, implementing and managing cyber security solutions for customers across New Zealand.

Working closely with customers, vendors and internal technical teams, you will assess cyber security risks, implement security controls, support incident response activities and provide expert advice across a broad range of cyber technologies.

This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone with experience across enterprise cyber security, managed security services and modern cloud environments. 

This is permanent, full-time position (32 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement and maintain ICT security policies, standards and procedures.
  • Assess cyber security risks across customer environments and recommend appropriate security controls.
  • Design and implement preventative and recovery strategies to minimise cyber threats.
  • Monitor, investigate and respond to security incidents and alerts.
  • Support vulnerability management, remediation planning and security improvement programmes.
  • Implement and manage network, cloud, endpoint and identity security technologies.
  • Support Security Operations Centre (SOC) and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services.
  • Conduct security assessments, risk reviews and cyber health checks.
  • Produce security reports, technical documentation and remediation recommendations.
  • Advise customers on cyber security strategy, best practice and security architecture.
  • Work with internal consultants, engineers and vendor partners to deliver successful customer outcomes.
  • Stay current with emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities and industry best practice.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in cyber security, ICT security, managed security services or security consulting.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise cyber security principles and technologies.
  • Experience delivering cyber security solutions and services within enterprise environments, ideally across Energy, Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), Financial Services, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Government or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience securing Microsoft, cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Practical experience with firewalls, endpoint security, identity security, email security and cloud security.
  • Experience supporting Security Operations Centres (SOC), Managed Detection and Response (MDR), incident response and vulnerability management.
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks and risk management principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple customer engagements.

Desirable Experience

Experience with one or more of the following technologies:

Experience with one or more of the following technologies and platforms: Check Point, Akamai, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco Security, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, AWS Security, Microsoft Azure Security, Splunk, KnowBe4.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Security+, CySA+, Microsoft Security, AWS Security or vendor certifications are desirable.
