Company Description We are a Heavy Vehicle Repair workshop expanding rapidly. Our highly organised and fast-paced team works together to repair and rebuild trucks for our customers. No job is too small or too complex. The experience you will get when working at Prancer will be second to none. Diesel Mechanic Heavy Vehicles Duties and responsibilities: • Maintain, test and repair diesel motors and the mechanical parts of heavy commercial vehicles, such as transmissions, suspension, steering mechanisms and brakes. • Carry out scheduled maintenance, which includes oil and filter changes, engine tuning, lubricating mechanical parts, testing the engine, hydraulics, powertrain, brakes, and electrical systems, and ensuring compliance with pollution regulations. • Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks, Assembly, and Dismantling (Overhauling) of Major Components like Engines, Hydraulic pumps, transmissions, final Drives, etc. • Address and resolve breakdown issues by following the diagnostic procedures outlined in the repair manual. • Test, charge, replace, or jump-start batteries. • Diagnose and test parts with the assistance of computers and diagnostic equipment. • Conduct a thorough test after repair to ensure optimal performance. • Repair and replace worn and defective parts, reassemble the engine and mechanical components, and refer to service manuals as needed. • Ensure proper usage and maintenance of various measuring equipment, hand tools and special tools in the workshop. • Update and highlight all major and recurring failures to the Workshop Foreman/Service Supervisor. Qualifications & Licences: • A trade qualification as a Certificate III Diesel Mechanic or above is essential. • Forklift Licence and Safe Working at Heights (Desirable). • Current NSW driver’s licence (Desirable or attainable in three months) Skills: • Have a firm adherence to WHSE and in keeping with a safe workplace. • Self-motivated and able to work independently as required. Experience: • Two plus years of diesel-heavy vehicle mechanic experience is essential. • Experience speaking with customers and resolving concerns or issues would be highly regarded. Salary $78,000.00 to $85,000.00 annual.
