United Capital Limited is an Auckland-based financial services and lending company specialising in providing credit and loan solutions to customers. The company assesses loan applications based on customers’ financial circumstances, credit history, repayment capacity and relevant supporting information. We are looking for a Loan Officer to join our team and support the assessment, approval and administration of loan applications.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Assess loan and credit applications by analysing customers’ financial information, including income, payslips, credit history, references, assets, liabilities and other relevant information against the company’s lending policies and credit criteria.
  • Conduct credit assessments and evaluate the financial position, repayment capacity and creditworthiness of applicants.
  • Contact banks, financial institutions, credit reporting agencies and other relevant organisations to obtain and verify information relating to customers’ financial and credit standing.
  • Review credit reports, financial records and supporting documentation to identify potential credit risks and ensure lending decisions comply with established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare loan and credit approval papers setting out approved loan amounts, interest rates, repayment schedules, loan terms, security requirements and other conditions.
  • Make recommendations regarding the approval, decline or modification of credit and loan applications, including appropriate credit limits and lending conditions.
  • Authorise credit and loan applications within delegated approval limits and refer applications outside those limits to senior management for approval.
  • Maintain accurate records of loan applications, approvals, repayments, outstanding balances, customer information and credit decisions.
  • Monitor loan repayments and follow up overdue accounts by contacting customers and issuing routine payment reminders and overdue notices.
  • Respond to enquiries from customers and authorised parties regarding credit standing, loan balances, repayment arrangements, interest, fees and penalties.
  • Assess, recommend and, where authorised, approve and arrange mortgage and other secured lending facilities.
  • Liaise with customers, lenders, financial institutions, brokers, solicitors and other relevant parties to facilitate the processing and settlement of loans.
  • Ensure all lending activities comply with the company’s credit policies, risk management requirements and applicable New Zealand financial and lending regulations.

Requirements of the Role:

  • A relevant qualification in Finance, and/or
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in lending, credit assessment, finance, banking or a related field.
