About your team / Ko te tīma

Our Finance team plays a key role in supporting WorkSafe Mahi Haumaru's mission, delivering expert financial planning, reporting, and advice that helps drive better decisions across the organisation.

Led by our Chief Financial Officer, the team brings together specialist teams- Payroll, Financial accounting and processing and system accounting - working closely with the business to provide trusted insights and robust financial management.

About the role / Ō te tūranga

We're seeking a proven leader to take charge of our Financial Accounting Services team, leading a team of eight. In this key role, you'll oversee financial accounting and payroll delivery, ensure strong financial assurance and controls, and provide oversight of our financial systems to support the organisation's success.

What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi

  • Ensure fit for purpose financial systems are developed, delivered and operated across WorkSafe  
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable/Receivable function 
  • Work across the organisation in partnership with the wider Finance team to ensure financial policies and processes are fit for purpose
  • Support the Payroll function by providing backup support for approving pays. 

What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu

  • A tertiary qualification in business/accounting as well as a professional accounting qualification (Chartered Accountant or recognised equivalent). 
  • In-depth experience within financial accountancy, preferably in the public sector.  
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves to support the team with practical tasks.  
  • Significant experience leading a team of varying skills and knowledge.  
  • Understanding and experience providing payroll support and processes would be advantageous.  
  • Experience leading a team.

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $129,038 to $170,159, and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $129,038 to $142,745. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional too/on top of your base salary.
