The Opportunity

We are seeking Clinical and Non-Clinical Practitioners to join our Primary Mental Health and Addictions team. This role is grounded in Kaupapa Māori models of care, delivering whānau-centred, culturally safe interventions.

You will facilitate kaupapa Māori healing practices that are tailored by Māori for Māori and provide (whitiwhiti kōrero) talking therapies and group facilitation that support tangata whaiora and their whānau. You will also collaborate with community groups, marae, NGOs, and government services to strengthen pathways of care across Te Tai Tokerau.

You will be part of an established multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive support to our Tangata whaiora and their whānau through strengths-based and culturally appropriate approaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver kaupapa Māori interventions alongside our Clinical Team, Kaupapa Lead, peer navigators, and group facilitators.
  • Provide 1-1 talk therapies and assist / support group facilitation grounded in mātauranga Māori frameworks (e.g., Te Whare Tapa Whā, Hua Oranga, Dynamics of Whanaungatanga).
  • Develop and maintain strong networks with iwi, hapū, marae, NGOs, and general practice.
  • Accurately record service data and contribute to reporting requirements.
  • Engage in professional development, cultural & Clinical supervision, and the Takarangi Competency Framework.
  • Advocating with and for Whānau with external agencies and systems
  • Tracking progress, managing risk, and ensuring safety
  • Clinical roles require: Conducting triage, needs assessments, whānau planning, and reviews. Managing risk, including suicidality, AOD issues, and crisis presentations.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum level 4 in Health and Wellbeing or other associated study for non-clinical roles and DAPAANZ or SWRB (Professional certification and registration in accordance with registration board requirements) for Clinical Roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Māori models of care and Tikanga Māori
  • Experience working with whānau of all ages affected by mental health and addictions.
  • Ability to engage confidently in Māori settings (marae, hui)
  • Excellent communication, networking, and facilitation skills.
  • A clean, full NZ Driver License.
  • Ability to pass a Working with Children Check and Police Vetting
  • Understand the importance of following evidence-based models, policies, practices and procedures
  • Be Culturally Responsive: Able to build rapport across cultures, with proven experience supporting Māori, Pacific, and migrant communities. Committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi).
