Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.About the role We are excited to offer the opportunity for an experienced Podiatrist to join our High Risk Foot service across Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley. We are seeking looking for an experienced podiatrist with the skills and knowledge to provide evidence based best practice for the assessment and treatment of the management of complex high risk foot wounds and foot complications.The podiatrist will work in a small team of podiatrists to provide assessment and treatment of active high risk foot wounds in both outpatient clinics and inpatient settings across Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley. The caseload will include active foot wounds and foot conditions, primarily from diabetes and vascular complications.The podiatrists team are key members of the vascular MDT team, and work into an MDT clinic alongside vascular surgeons, vascular nurse specialist, diabetes consultants, wound specialist nurses, microbiologists and orthotists to improve patient outcomes and reduce amputation rates within the diabetic foot population. The team also liaises closely with the community diabetes podiatry team to create greater patient outcomes across the region and working together to reduce hospitalisations.About the Team/Service/Location There are currently six podiatrists working in the podiatry team across the Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley District.This role sits in the Allied Health Outpatient team which includes podiatrists, physiotherapists, social workers, dietitians all working predominantly in outpatient settings.The team is spread across the following four sites:Wellington Regional HospitalKenepuru HospitalKapiti Health CentreHutt HospitalWe are a diverse and inclusive team who provide a service to patients and their whānau across predominantly outpatient but also inpatient and community settings.The role will also work closely with other departments across CCHV including district nursing, orthopaedics, vascular, diabetes and wound care specialist nurses.About youYou will:have three years of clinical experience (preferred), including experience in a high risk foot setting with skills in wound care and assessment of the high risk footbe registered with the Podiatry Board of NZhave a current APChave experience in MDT settingbe a great team player with strong communication skills.Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
