Job Description

Help shape digital services that improve the wellbeing of Hamiltonians. This is your chance to lead HRIS and regulatory products, drive innovation, and deliver secure, user-focused solutions that make a real impact.

You’ll join our Digital Services team that are focused on enabling Hamilton City Council through digital means to achieve our goals, long-term vision, and the needs of our community.

Joining our team of platform and digital product experts, you will be responsible for the managing the delivery of our HR & Regulatory platform services ensuring exceptional products that meet our customers' needs. You’ll collaborate with other platform managers, product owners, digital analysts, and stakeholders to help define and execute the platform strategy and roadmap.

This job is for you if you:

  • Possess extensive experience in Product Ownership/Management working within an Agile scrum framework owning and prioritising backlogs based on customer value and compliance need, as well as facilitating backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Translate organisational goals into clear product outcomes for HRIS and Regulatory services and support the development of product roadmaps and OKRs.
  • Contribute to agile and product management maturity within Digital Services.
  • Enjoy acquiring a thorough understanding of both business and technology within your platform team's domain to support the delivery of appropriate technology solutions.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, providing reports on ROI, risk assessment, and product effectiveness and benefits realisation across product lifecycle.
  • Advocate for customer needs while collaborating closely with platform teams to ensure clear understanding of requirements and successful execution.
  • Ensure delivery meets Council’s quality, compliance with legislation and Council policies.
  • Build strong relationships across Digital Services, People & Culture, Regulatory teams, and external vendors.
  • Excel in collaborative settings, promoting a culture of excellence and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Be responsible for the day to day delivery of both initiatives and operations across the platform and product portfolio.
  • Focus on delivering outcomes over outputs, ensuring that the work done maximizes the value delivered versus the effort required.
  • Able to work independently, manage workloads, balance priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Organisationally astute, knowing when to push boundaries or hold back.
  • Financially knowledgeable, capable of working within budgetary constraints.

We support flexible working for our team with a hybrid approach. Ideally, you will be in the office 3 days per week to build connections and support your team. To ensure that you are fully onboarded and have the support needed to establish yourself in this new role, we would require you to be in the office 4 to 5 days a week in the first couple of months.

Qualifications

  • Strong stakeholder and product ownership or management experience.
  • Extensive experience working within an Agile Scrum Framework with Microsoft ADO an advantage. Experience across SAP Success Factors, ERP and SaaS platforms. Working knowledge of integration patterns, data privacy and security also an advantage.
  • Strong Product leadership and management skills and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in product ownership.
  • Ability to prioritise ruthlessly and balance strategic and operational work.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for complex challenges.
  • Empathy and relationship management to understand user needs and build trust.
  • Leadership that inspires collaboration and accountability.
