About the Role

AOYY TRADE LIMITED is seeking a capable and motivated Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations of our retail business. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient store performance, supervising staff, maintaining service standards, monitoring sales and financial performance, and supporting the overall growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the retail business to ensure efficient and effective store performance.
  • Supervise and support retail staff, including assisting with hiring, rostering, training, and performance monitoring.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain store policies and operational procedures to support smooth and consistent business operations.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance, stock movement, and financial data to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Assist in managing store budgets, expenses, cost control, and routine financial reporting activities.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels by coordinating purchasing, replenishment, product display, and inventory control.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, and coordinate product ordering, pricing, and supply arrangements.
  • Plan and implement promotional and merchandising activities to attract customers and improve sales performance.
  • Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and service issues in a professional and timely manner to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and other relevant company policies and operational standards.

About you
To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • At least one year of relevant work experience in the retail industry; or
  • A relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or above. No specific major is required if the candidate holds a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Skills & Experience Required

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Good knowledge of retail store operations and day-to-day business processes
  • Strong staff supervision and team coordination skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to monitor sales performance, stock levels, and store presentation
  • Sound organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to handle customer enquiries and complaints in a professional manner
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
  • A responsible and reliable approach to workplace health and safety and operational compliance

In addition, you will ideally have:

  • Experience in staff rostering, training, or performance monitoring
  • Experience in stock control, purchasing, or supplier coordination
  • Experience in sales reporting, budgeting, or cost control
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to contribute to business improvement
  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced retail environment
