We're Hiring! – retail manager Wanted

Location: Auckland

Positions Available: 10

Hourly Rate: $27–$35
Working Hours: 30–60 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent Agreement, Full-Time

Job Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in supermarket industry 

Education: no qualification required but must have work experience

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Full Operational Management

Manage and control all daily store operations across grocery, fresh food and checkout departments

Establish operational policies and procedures

Monitor overall store efficiency and implement improvements

Exercise independent decision-making authority in daily operations

2. International Procurement & Supply Chain Management

Lead sourcing and procurement of goods from overseas suppliers, including China

Negotiate supplier contracts and pricing agreements

Coordinate international logistics and import documentation

Manage product margins and landed cost analysis

Adjust product mix based on sales performance and market demand

3. Financial Management & Commercial Performance

Develop and monitor store budgets

Analyse profit and loss reports

Monitor sales targets and gross margins

Control operating costs and labour expenditure

Authorise purchasing and expenditure within delegated limits

4. Staff Management & Organisational Leadership

Lead recruitment and selection processes

Develop workforce planning strategies

Conduct performance reviews

Approve and manage staffing structures

Handle disciplinary and employment matters

5. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with NZ Food Safety and MPI import regulations

Oversee health and safety compliance

Ensure compliance with employment and trading regulations

6. Strategic Business Development

Develop marketing and promotional strategies

Analyse market trends within the Asian retail sector

Support long-term business expansion initiatives

Provide operational reports directly to the Company Director
