Exciting Full-Time, Fixed-Term Opportunities

We have two full-time, fixed-term positions available within the Curriculum Wāhanga to support the Te Marautanga o Aotearoa programme for the 2025 school year, ending on 9 December 2025. This role can be based in any Te Kura office.

About Te Marautanga o Aotearoa

Te Marautanga o Aotearoa is a redesigned curriculum that empowers kura and Māori-medium settings to deliver culturally responsive education aligned with their special character. It prioritises every ākongas potential through deep engagement with te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori, and te ao Māori.

The curriculum supports the meaningful integration of mātauranga Māori into daily learning, ensuring a strong cultural and linguistic foundation while meeting modern educational needs. This refreshed approach represents a significant advancement in Māori-medium education, providing kaiako and ākonga with contemporary, culturally authentic learning materials that honour and promote Māori knowledge systems and values.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position

As a Curriculum Lead, you will provide direction and leadership to ensure curriculum integration and educational excellence. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading Curriculum Initiatives: You will lead the development and implementation of culturally responsive curriculum initiatives, ensuring educational excellence and integration.
  • Collaborating and Supporting: You will work closely with stakeholders, provide curriculum expertise, and support the development team for Te Marautanga o Aotearoa for Years 1-13 ākonga.
  • Ensuring Quality and Professional Learning: You will conduct QA reviews, design and deliver professional learning, and ensure collaboration with relevant kaimahi. Additionally, you may be required to provide PLD to Te Kura staff for the new materials.

As a passionate advocate for Māori language, culture, values, and practices, you bring a deep understanding and respect for Te Ao Māori. Your expertise in te reo Māori, combined with your ability to develop culturally responsive resources, ensures that our ākonga have well-developed and relevant materials to support and enhance their learning journey. Additionally, you will need to be:

  • A Registered Kaiako with Expertise: You are a registered kaiako with a current practicing certificate. You have advanced knowledge and experience in curriculum design and delivery, with a commitment to mana ōrite mō te mātauranga Māori.
  • Team-Oriented and Detail-Focused: You have a strong team ethos, the ability to take initiative and work independently, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to excellence in curriculum delivery and content.
  • An Inclusive and Innovative Collaborator: You adopt an inclusive approach to resource development, ensuring diverse and personalised learning needs are met. You collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, bringing an innovative mindset to the team.
