Fabricator Welder / Mechanical Fitter needed in Christchurch. Stainless TIG welding or robotics/automation fitting. Temp-to-perm, great team.Fabricator Welder / Mechanical Fitter | Temp-to-Perm | Christchurch
Shifts: 7:00am–3:30pm or 3:00pm–11:30pm | Rate: $32 ~ $42
A well-established Canterbury engineering and manufacturing business is looking for experienced Fabricators, Welders, and Mechanical Fitters to join their growing team, as they expand into robotics, automation, and end-to-end equipment solutions.
About the business
A respected, long-standing Canterbury operation with strong capability in stainless steel fabrication and TIG/MIG welding. They're moving into more advanced manufacturing — incorporating robotics, pneumatics, and hydraulics into their production lines — and need capable hands-on people to grow with them.
About the roles
We have both immediate and longer-term openings, covering two areas of work:
Fabrication / Welding:
  • Stainless steel fabrication and TIG welding to a high standard
  • Pipe welding and structural fabrication experience also considered
  • Working from engineering drawings
  • Repairs and maintenance experience welcomed
Mechanical Fitting:
  • Fitting, testing, and commissioning of machinery and equipment
  • Work across robotics, automation, and pneumatic systems
  • Bearing assessments and working to tight tolerances
What we're looking for
  • Experienced Fabricators (not just welders) with strong stainless steel skills
  • Food processing or food manufacturing industry experience highly desirable
  • Mechanical Fitters with robotics, automation, or end-to-end equipment experience
  • Must have stainless steel fabrication + TIG welding, and/or solid repairs & maintenance background
  • Quality over quantity — we're after people who can add value quickly and stay long-term
