Minimum 30 hours per week
Maximum 40 hours per week

The store operates Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The successful applicant must be available to work weekends and public holidays when required.

Remuneration

$34 – $36 per hour depending on skills and experience

About the Business

Atmiya Corporation Limited, trading as Dollarama Variety Store, operates a retail variety store at Barrington Mall in Christchurch. The store offers a broad range of affordable everyday and seasonal products, including party supplies, toys, stationery, arts and crafts, hair and beauty products, kitchenware, household and garden products, gifts, greeting cards, mobile accessories and other general merchandise.

We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management, staff supervision, stock control, merchandising and overall operational performance of the store.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the retail store to ensure efficient and effective business performance.
  • Plan and implement sales, pricing and promotional activities, including seasonal promotions, to maximise sales and customer engagement.
  • Monitor sales performance, stock movement and customer demand and take appropriate action to improve store performance.
  • Plan and coordinate stock ordering, replenishment, stock rotation and inventory control to maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise shortages and losses.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding product availability, pricing, orders, deliveries and promotional opportunities.
  • Oversee product merchandising, displays, pricing and overall store presentation to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and performance-manage retail staff.
  • Prepare staff rosters, allocate duties and monitor staff productivity and performance.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and resolve customer enquiries, complaints and other service issues.
  • Develop and implement appropriate store procedures to support efficient daily operations.
  • Monitor cash handling, store security, opening and closing procedures and other operational controls.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and other relevant regulatory obligations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales, customer service, product range and overall profitability.
  • Undertake other retail management duties as reasonably required for the successful operation of the business.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

A minimum of 2 years' relevant managerial experience in retail or a closely related field.

A relevant qualification may be considered an advantage but is not essential.
