Wanted HEALTHCARE ASSISTANTS for Eagle Recruitment NZ

Eagle Recruitment NZ is seeking Healthcare Assistants (HCA) in Auckland. You'll be a vital part of a care team, providing direct support to patients or residents in various healthcare settings, such as aged care facilities, hospitals, or private homes. Responsibilities:
  • Patient/Resident Care

    • Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
    • Support patient/resident mobility, including safe transfers, ambulation with and without aids, and repositioning to prevent pressure sores. 

    • Assist with medication administration as delegated by a registered nurse and in accordance with facility policies and the HCA scope of practice.

    • Help patients with basic exercises and participate in recreational activities to promote well-being and social interaction.

  • Clinical Support & Monitoring

    • Observe and accurately document changes in a patient's physical condition, behaviour, or emotional state. 

    • Record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, as required. 

    • Report any changes or concerns immediately to the supervising Registered Nurse or relevant clinical staff. 

    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of care provided in patient records, electronic or paper-based. 

  • Teamwork & Communication

    • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. 

    • Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, their families, and colleagues. 

    • Actively participate in handovers and staff meetings to ensure continuity of care. 

    • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and health and safety protocols. 
  • Cultural Competence

    • Provide culturally safe care that respects the unique needs and beliefs of Māori, Pasifika, and all diverse cultural groups in New Zealand.

    • Demonstrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies to healthcare in New Zealand. 

Requirements and Skills:
  • Level 4 NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent, or at least three years of relevant experience.

  • Must be compassionate, empathetic, patient, and reliable.

  • Capable of performing duties that involve lifting, standing for extended periods, and assisting with patient mobility.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

  • Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.

  • Must be an NZ Citizen, NZ Resident, or eligible to work in NZ.

Advantageous but not required:
  • Current First Aid Certificate.

  • Valid Driver's Licence or equivalent.

 This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$26.50 and NZ$30, depending on experience and qualification. The work hours are a minimum of 30 hours to a maximum of 70 hours per week, and they are to be worked between Monday and Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. You may be required to work on weekends.
