Key responsibilities:
This position involves duties related to operating a forklift but not limited to:
Receiving and moving materials in the yard, ensuring handling is kept to a minimum.
Transporting goods to designated areas and sorting different types of scrap metal based on categories, such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and separate them into appropriate designated areas or containers.
Maintain an orderly and clean yard by arranging materials, stacking, and storing scrap metal in designated areas to optimize space and facilitate easy access.
Conduct basic maintenance tasks on equipment and tools used in the yard, including cleaning, lubricating, and reporting any malfunctions or damages. .
Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials, weights, and other relevant information to ensure proper documentation and tracking.
Collaborate effectively with other team members, supervisors, and drivers to coordinate tasks, share information, and ensure a smooth workflow.
Follow environmental regulations and guidelines related to scrap metal recycling, including the proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials.
Identify and suggest process improvements, efficiency enhancements, or cost-saving measures to optimize yard operations.
Ensure all health and safety and PPE requirements are met.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
One year relevant experience in forklifting operating, or relevant qualification equivalent to NZ level 2
Forklift license is required
Proficiency in safely operating and maintaining the forklift.
Physically fit with the ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 20kg)
Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal check
Location: The Forklift Operator may be required to work across Marlborough,Canterbury, Otago, Southland, Whangerei, Auckland, Waikato,Manawatū-Whanganui, Wellington
This role will be a permanent and full-time job.
A minimum of 30 hours of work are guaranteed.
Minimum and Maximum houly rate: $29.66-$35
