Overview

About UsLeonardo.Ai is an Australian startup on a mission to unleash the world’s creativity with our generative AI platform. Launched in 2022, we’ve grown to tens of millions of users worldwide, and we’re only just getting started.

The Role

We’re looking for an iOS Engineer to join our Native Tribe, the team building Leonardo’s iOS and Android apps with a clear mobile-first roadmap. In this role, you’ll collaborate on larger features and initiatives, as well as lead small to medium projects end-to-end.

You’ll work in a SwiftUI-first codebase with live previews, integrated with a GraphQL backend, and ship quickly through a streamlined CI/CD pipeline and lean release process. We keep things practical, testing where it matters, low boilerplate architecture, and backing a culture that values initiative and care. You will utilise cutting-edge AI tooling where it makes sense to deliver features, bug fixes, and technical enhancements.

What makes this team special is our collaborative approach. Engineers share openly, partner closely with product and design, and experiment with new tools to keep improving. You’ll be part of a supportive, proactive group where curiosity is encouraged and ideas are celebrated.

You’ll help deliver mobile-first creative tools that turn complex AI into simple, intuitive flows for millions of users, integrating our own and our partners’ frontier models, AI-driven image and video tools, and projects like localisation, A/B test-driven enhancements, and brand new experiences that are unique to our apps.

What You’ll Do

  • Own projects: Deliver small to medium features end-to-end, and contribute to larger squad initiatives like configuration-driven model integrations, workflow marketplaces and community-oriented features.
  • Design solutions: Solve problems with clarity and pragmatism, balancing performance, user experience, and maintainability.
  • Write code: Ship clean, reliable Swift/SwiftUI with structured concurrency, the right level of test coverage, and give reviews that genuinely lift team quality.
  • Keep things reliable: Build with production in mind, manage releases, support monitoring and debugging, and step up when incidents need resolving.
  • Work together: Partner with product, design, and API teams to co-create features and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teammates.
  • Show initiative: Utilise the latest developer tools (like Claude Code), find better ways of working, and share learnings openly with the team.

Skills We Value

  • Experience shipping iOS apps with Swift, SwiftUI and structured concurrency.
  • Familiarity with Swift Package Manager, XCTest, and GraphQL.
  • Ability to deliver medium-sized projects while collaborating closely with your team.
  • Sound judgement that balances speed, quality, and long-term outcomes.
  • A collaborative style that builds trust and positive relationships across teams.
  • Curiosity and initiative, shown through side projects, keeping up with industry direction, and improving processes and efficiency for you and your team.
  • A supportive approach to mentoring and sharing knowledge, contributing to an inclusive culture

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Drive impact: Shape mobile-first experiences that bring generative AI to millions worldwide.
  • Gain visibility: See your work featured globally on App Store curated pages.
  • Ship fast: Work with a lean optimised release pipeline that gets updates shipped in under an hour.
  • Enjoy freedom: Learn and experiment with cutting-edge AI tools in a collaborative, inclusive team.
  • Grow here: Learn from talented teammates, step up to bigger challenges, and thrive with Canva’s long-term support behind us.

Our Culture

  • Inclusive Culture: We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. At Leonardo AI, your unique perspectives and experiences are welcomed and essential to our success.
  • Flexible Work Environment: We understand the importance of work-life balance. Enjoy the flexibility to work remotely or from our vibrant offices. We have employees all over Australia, ensuring you can thrive personally and professionally.
