Restaurant Manager, Cooks and Waiters

OMSY FOODS LIMITED is looking for a Restaurant Manager, Cooks (multiple positions) and Waiters (multiple positions) for the new restaurant, BENARAS, based in Queenstown.

 

For the Restaurant Manager position, some of the daily duties would be:

  • Plan menus together with chefs/cooks
  • Organise and manage special events and functions
  • Purchase supplies and set prices within the budget
  • Monitor stock levels and keep accurate financial records
  • Ensure the dining area is clean, safe, and meets health regulations
  • Speak with customers to check their satisfaction with food and service
  • Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen and service staff
  • Handle reservations, welcome guests, and assist with taking orders when needed

Working on weekends and being available on calls are required for this position.

Offered Wage: $30 - $36 per hour (based on experience)

Employment is full-time with a minimum of 30 hours per week.

This is a managerial role where you'll be handling the sole charge of the restaurant.

You should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience or a relevant qualification (NZ Level 4 or higher).

For the Cook role, below would be the daily duties:

  • Inspect food ingredients to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Monitor and control the temperature of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes and guidelines.
  • Season and adjust flavours during the cooking process.
  • Portion meals, plate dishes attractively, and add sauces or garnishes as required.
  • Store food safely in temperature-controlled areas in line with food safety standards.
  • Prepare meals to accommodate special dietary requirements.
  • Assist with menu planning and estimate ingredient quantities when needed.
  • Support and train kitchen staff and apprentices as required.

Knowledge of Indian curries, tandoor, and South Indian cuisine would be an advantage.

Offered wage rate: $25 - $35 per hour (based on experience)

For the Waiter role, the daily tasks would be:

  • Prepare and set tables in accordance with service standards
  • Assist in the kitchen
  • Welcome guests warmly and provide menus and beverage selections
  • Accurately take food and drink orders and communicate them to the kitchen and bar staff
  • Serve meals and beverages promptly and professionally
  • Open and present bottles, and pour beverages as required
  • Clear tables efficiently and return used dishes and cutlery to the kitchen
  • Remove empty bottles and used glassware, and refresh or replace glassware as needed
  • Process payments and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash registers
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations on wine pairings to enhance the dining experience
  • Follow New Zealand's Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 regulations.

Offered wage rate: $25 - $26 per hour (based on experience)

Employment is full-time with a minimum of 30 hours per week.
